FAQ | Photographer in Bath

Frequently asked questions.

Bath children's photographer.

Do you provide services for professional people?

Yes! We provide beautiful headshots and personal branding photography for businesses. We go beyond the rather generic look of most headshot photography to give pictures that present something of your personality, helping to position you correctly. We also specialise in producing websites (like this one) based around great images and rich media - they're responsive (look good on tablets, phones and computers), with effective SEO and social media management. Please click here to contact us for a quotation for your specific needs.

What is the overall process with English Photoworks?

  • An initial consultation appointment with us so that we can understand what type of photographs you would like, who will feature, and whether the session will be in the studio or on location;

  • The photography session itself (about 2 hours);

  • An in-person viewing of 20-30 beautifully edited images: you choose which of these to print, and which print products you would like to order;

  • A collection appointment - you take home a stunning collection of photographs.

Why invest in custom professional photography?

Our clients book us for the quality of our work. But also because they value the personal attention they receive, and appreciate working with people with 20 years' experience in the fine arts, both in professional practice and teaching. We book a limited number of sessions so that we can get to know our clients, and provide the highest levels of service before, during and after our sessions. Lastly, we invest heavily in the best photographic equipment, education and professional memberships to ensure that we stay at the cutting edge.

Where will the session take place?

This depends on the type of session you would like. For families and children it can be more fun to shoot outside, where we can utilise the beautiful Wiltshire countryside. We have a number of locations for taking great photographs, but we also love to shoot at our studio in Corsham.

What should I wear for the session?

We have session-planning tips and information that we can share with you when you book with us - ultimately the choice is yours, but you can get some inspiration by looking at our Pinterest boards.

How can I prepare my son or daughter for a photography session?

The main thing is to reassure your child that it's going to be a fun experience for them! They will have a great day with their family and the photographer will be there to join in. For younger children, a favourite toy can look lovely in the pictures. A young child 'on sugar' is tough to handle in a session, however - sweets are best afterwards!

What happens if I (or my child) am ill?

We're happy to re-schedule your session if you or your child are ill. If you're not feeling your best, the photographs probably won't look their best either.

What happens if the weather is terrible?

If you're coming for a studio session, the weather won't impact at all. However, if the weather threatens to ruin a location shoot, of course we will re-schedule.

Do you offer digital files?

We are a full service photography studio offering print and digital photographs. All of our portrait packages are based around printed photographs, with some of the packages containing digital files - HD video slideshows and custom smartphone apps are also an option. Our commercial services for professionals are delivered digitally.

What is a full service photography studio?

Full service means that we work together with you throughout the entire process - from initial consultation, through helping you with what to wear (if you want us to), to when your images are finally placed on the walls of your home.

  • We are committed to the quality of your experience with us;

  • We can show you how your images will look in your own home;

  • We will help you choose the best images for your final selection;

  • We can help you with your selection of print products, framing etc;

  • No work leaves our premises unless it is absolutely first rate.

What is your style?

We produce timeless photographs which we believe capture the spirit of the subject, are clean in style, and beautifully edited.

Why do you supply matted prints in folio boxes?

Matted prints are an extremely attractive way of presenting photographs, and are designed to stand the test of time. In addition, they:

  • Enable you frame your images, or keep them archived;

  • Allow you to 'rotate' images in a frame;

  • Provide a priceless family heirloom;

  • Allow you to gift photographs to those you love;

  • Will never become obsolete.

Are you insured?

Yes, English Photoworks carries Public Liability Insurance, with cover of £5,000,000.

Are you DBS checked?

Yes, we are Enhanced DBS certified and signed up to the update service, which means we have the highest level of authorisation/safety to work with children and young people.

What equipment do you use?

We run two camera systems, primarily based around a medium format Fuji GFX50S system for studio work. For location and wedding photography it’s Canon 5D Mark III bodies, and we use Canon L & Sigma ART lenses. Our lights are Elinchrom BRX-series with Rotalux octaboxes, and our stunning backdrops are custom-made for us in the UK by Hand Painted Backdrops
