Maternity & Newborn

Stunning imagery for expectant mums and their newborn babies. Wonderful photographs in contemporary and fine art studio styles.

Capturing the first few days.

Capturing the first few days.

A new baby is the most special of blessings. Our work here is to preserve the first few days, after which the baby of course grows and changes very quickly. We photograph newborns at 5-10 days - the reason for this is that they are still very sleepy, which makes the session flow more smoothly.

Safety is our no. 1 concern.

Safety is our no. 1 concern.

We are fully equipped to photograph newborns safely, and we always run the sessions with two photographers - one to take the photographs and one to handle the baby, along with mum or dad. We use purpose-designed equipment to support the baby, making their safety our primary concern. Many of our photographs are achieved by supporting the baby with adult hands which are removed afterwards in Photoshop.

During the first few days, the baby bonds with its mum and dad, and we love to produce imagery which immortalises the start of this beautiful relationship.

We like to get new dads involved, too.

We love it when both parents are able to attend the newborn photoshoot, and we have a range of poses to showcase your new family member. The image above, of baby in dad's hands, initially featured two other hands - one supporting the head, and another supporting the bottom. These were removed afterwards in Photoshop, leaving this classic black & white father and son portrait.

Waiting for the right moment.

Waiting for the right moment.

Newborn babies are not known for 'playing ball' during their sessions! That means there's a reasonable amount of waiting for the right moment - and sometimes the baby will give a little smile. Newborn sessions usually take 3-4 hours, and the baby will need regular stops for feeding and changing. Parents and siblings are very welcome in the studio and we can take all the time we need - we never book up more than one newborn session in a day.

Celebrating the 'bloom' of expectant mums.

Celebrating the 'bloom' of expectant mums.

We photograph expectant mums in our signature fine art style, as well as a more light and airy contemporary style. Most mums come to see us at 36-37 weeks - their bump is large enough to look really impressive, and mum is still feeling relatively mobile!

A maternity session is a great opportunity to get some couples photographs.

Many couples have no professional photographs of themselves at all. A maternity session is the perfect opportunity to celebrate the imminent arrival of your new baby, while also having your husband or partner as a key player in the photographs.

Contemporary maternity styling.

There's a huge array of choice of what to wear for your maternity shoot, including purpose-designed photoshoot clothing if that's what you'd like. We can also produce some amazing images using just chiffon and the wind machine at our Corsham studio!

We do all our maternity sessions at our Wiltshire studio.

The studio is very comfortable, and most of our clients prefer to work here rather than on location, especially as English weather is not exactly predictable. We can produce images to suit a range of tastes, including a re-creation of Annie Leibovitz's famous maternity portrait of Demi Moore!

The choice of colour schemes for your newborn photographs is entirely up to you, and we have a tasteful range of blankets, hats, headbands, wraps and other accessories at our Corsham photography studio. We never batch-edit or mass-produce anything at our studio - all our work is carefully hand edited. This means your images will be beautifully colour balanced and retouched. We are able to carry out extensive retouching using Photoshop - if there are specific ways you'd like us to help you look your best, please let us know and we'll oblige.
