Camera Bag 2020 Roundup

You’ll always need a way to move around your gear: here are some of the best ways to do it. The coolest, toughest and most practical camera bags of 2020.

Billingham 225

Traditional bags, since 1973. The Billingham 225 is designed and built to last a long time: it’s tough, roomy and a classic design. Great for wedding photographers especially, but for anyone looking for time-honoured, English craftsmanship. £275

Ona Brixton

A luxury messenger bag designed to carry a 13” laptop as well as a full-frame DSLR and lenses. This is the last word in camera bag luxury: tough, beautiful and practical. £540

Billingham Hadley Small

The Hadley Small’s design is straight out of the Billingham playbook and looks very cool. You’ll want this for mirrorless or rangefinder cameras, where there’s also room for a couple of lenses and small accessories. This bag is understated, stylish and tough. £175

Peak Design Everyday Backpack 30L

The Peak Design bags look minimalist and futuristic, and scream high quality. And although they’re designed to move around photo equipment, it doesn’t hurt that they’re also easy on the eye. The Everyday 30L is equally at home on an Alpine hike or for when you’re on assignment in the city. Plenty of room with a laptop sleeve and tripod holder to boot. £195

Peak Design Everyday Sling 10L

I’m biased about this bag because I use it for my everyday tech carry. The interior of the bag is customisable and (given the overall dimensions) feels roomy for a little bag. It has a quick-release strap adjuster for comfort and the main zip is located next to your body, for extra security. This will fit a smaller DSLR, mirrorless or rangefinder plus your wallet, phone and keys. Absolutely essential. £139

ThinkTank TurnStyle 20 V2

Here’s one of the best of the sling bags. This is great as a travel or small wedding bag and is very reasonably priced! The slings have the fabulous benefit of not sliding round your body when you’re shooting: ergonomics that are not to be sniffed at! You’ll get your DSLR and 3-4 lenses comfortably in this bag. £80

tenba.jpg

Tenba Solstice Backpack 24L

This bag was designed with landscape and travel photographers in mind: it’s big, comfortable and tough. Interestingly the makers had drones as well as DSLRs in mind, and you get two of everything in here! This has rear access to the main compartment and a waist belt that means you can spin it round for access, without having to set down the bag on the ground. £125

loweproslingshotedge.jpg

Lowepro 150AW Slingshot Edge

This is great little bag designed for a mirrorless camera, a couple of lenses and an iPad. Tough, practical and reasonably priced, its design is understated and it even has a tripod strap! £79

slingIII.jpg

Lowepro Passport Sling III

Another great little bag designed for travel and walkaround photography. The design is a little esoteric but you’ll get a DSLR and 2 lenses in here, as well as your iPad, wallet and keys. This bag is weatherproof, tough and practical. £57

manfrotto55.jpg

Manfrotto Pro Light Reloader Air 55

If you travel with your gear, this roller bag needs your serious consideration. It’s tough, versatile and designed as a carry-on bag. You’ll get 2 DSLRs and 4 lenses inside, along with plenty of room for accessories. This is a very high-quality bag with a price tag to match. Highly recommended. £380
